A day in Greymouth
We are having a lazy day again today. The sun was shining when we got up so we decided to walk the 3 km into Greymouth. Although it is called a city it has about three shopping street, all single storey. Whilst there we managed to see the Greymouth to Christchurch Scenic train go out. Had we known about this journey earlier we would have put it on our to do list. Its a bit like the Orient Express and travels right across South Island, the journey taking about 5 hours. This is a beautiful place to stop over and relax and its just what we need before the busy driving days ahead. We have already booked up our Milford Sound trip and David is looking to get a helicopter flight over the Glaciers, one of the highlights for him. If we can squeeze it in we are going to try for a trip to Doubtful Sound on the fiords. Apparently you need a rainy day for that one as there are lots of waterfalls and they are best seen in the rain. Still lots to do and lots to see.
