Franz Joself Morning then to Queenstown.

Unfortunately no photos yet as the camera is on charge..too many videos today.
The weather today couldn't have been more different.  We woke to sunny skies and warm weather again.  We were up a 6 so that David could get his helicopter flight in.  He had a fabulous time and took lots of photos and the half hour trip went so quickly.  .  On the way we drove along the coast line and stopped at a place called Bruce Bay.  The water was so clear blue and there were a pod of dolphins playing in the shallows.  We tried in vain to get photos but they look like little black spots on the sea.  We couldn't stay long enough to go in the water with them, which was a shame. We stopped and had a coffee at a place called Haast which again was right on the coast.  We found a little motel restaurant and had the place to ourselves, sharing with some hungry seagulls!  We travelled inland along a beautiful lake and stopped so many times to take photos of the waterfalls.  The roads are very mountainous and again with lots of bends. I am still hanging onto the side of the van!  The road went on forever and at one time we passed along Lake Wanaka and then went through a pass to find yet another lake Lake Hawea.  We had to stop in Wanaka to get fuel.  Those twisty roads certainly eat up the juice.

The next part of the journey was on a smaller road, not the state highway.  First of all we had our first traffic jam.. yes caused by sheep being herded along the road.. After that the road took us through wonderful mountain valleys and passes ending up with hairpin bends all the way down to our final destination, Queenstown.  The first views of this were of azure blue lakes and sandy coloured mountains.  There seems to be a lot to do here so although we only have 2 nights we are not going to leave for our next destination until the afternoon as Te Anu is only 2 hours drive, not like todays marathon and 6 hours..Looks like a fun day tomorrow..more later and lots of downloaded pics.  One thing about this country is that the scenery is absolutely fab, no words can really describe it.
