Pictures of our journey from Franz Josef to Queenstown

These pictures show the journey we had through all the different scenery.  Unfortunately the helicopter pictures seem to have got lost between camera and computer, we have tried everything but will have to wait until expert eyes can help us out.
Now we have pictures of our arrival with enry in the campsite and the day we had in Queenstown.

The start of the jet boat journey..see the happy smiling face (I don't know whats to come!!
Not me!! David trying to get a picture out of the window of our coach...

The bridge from where they used to do bungy jumping (its no longer high enough for the experts)
Me standing on the bungy bridge, see how high I am.

You can just see the road we have been on on the left hand side of the picture
Peace at last in Queenstown..

As you can see the place is great.  The later pictures tell of a very traumatic day for me.  It started off as a booking for a jet boat (something I was too sure off).  BUT the journey there was the most frightful I have every had in a coach.  We have to go up to the saddle of the mountain, passing the old gold mining sites of the Victorian age.  It was fine (the picture of both of us is the start), then we went onto a gravel single track road literally clinging to the side of the mountain.  As the coach went round the bends you couldn't see road, only sheer drop.  The driver saw the look of terror on my face and I changed seats to ride on the inside next to the mountain side.  This wasn't much different but at least I could hide my face and not look at anything.  It took forever and we were going over track just wide enough for the coach (20 seater) and nothing else.  There were passing places and fortunately we only met a couple of other vehicles, at the right places! We eventually got to the top of the mountain, then guess what we had to go down the other side. If I was terrified going up yu can imagine what I was feeling going down the other side.  When we got to the river at the bottom of the gorge my fear of jet boating had miraculously disappeared!  I thought we were going to go down the river and then be at seal level again.  The jet boating was great fun, in waters icy blue and clear.  I actually liked it so much that I would love to do it again.  David I hasten to add was brilliant with me all the time and tried to calm my nerves.  You can imagine my horror when I found out that we went up river then back again to the waiting coach, yes for the repeat journey back..  Actually I was ok by this time because I still had the adrenalin rush from the boat ride.  We then spent the rest of the day in Queenstown itself and treated ourselves to a meal out for a change.  Today I achieved something I thought I would never do but I would like to avoid the cliff hanging roads.
